Liverpool are reportedly on the cusp of finalising a major defensive signing, with respected Spanish journalist Bruno Alemany claiming the club has the deal for Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guehi “pretty much wrapped up.”
The news provides a significant boost to the Reds’ transfer plans and suggests they have beaten off interest from several European heavyweights, including La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Journalist on Liverpool having the deal wrapped up for Marc Guehi
Speaking on the popular YouTube show El Bar, Bruno Alemany was effusive in his praise for the 25-year-old centre-back and confident about the imminent move to Anfield.
“He’s a good player. He seems to me to be a great centre-back who has been a starter for some time with the English national team,” Alemany stated.
“He plays on the left, although he’s not left-footed; he handles his left foot well, too. I think it would be a fantastic signing, but I think Liverpool have it pretty much wrapped up, to be honest.”
This report aligns with earlier speculation thatLiverpool were determined to secure Guehi, who has made clear his intention to leave Crystal Palace when his contract expires in 2026.
Liverpool had a deal done in the summer on deadline day as well until Crystal Palace pulled out in the last minute resulting in the deal collapsing.

Guehi could be Ibrahima Konate’s replacement amid contract uncertainty
The pursuit of Guehi is strategically linked to the uncertain future of current Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate.
The French international’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season with the clubyet to come to an agreement with the player despite several contract offers.
The defender is linked with a move to Real Madrid and there are suggestions that the Spanish club could be looking to sign him on a free in the summer just as they signed Trent Alexander-Arnold.
It was recently reported that Liverpool have made their final contract offer toKonate, however the player has dismissed any such suggestions, stating that his agent is in discussions with the club, hoping that a deal could be agreed soon.
“I’ve seen a lot of things, particularly in the media. I saw that Liverpool made me a new offer recently.
“I don’t know where that information comes from, but now my agents are still discussing with Liverpool. I hope my decision will be made and I’ll be able to announce what I’ll do very soon.”
Liverpool might not be willing to lose another star player on a free and hence there is a chance they could sell Konate in January if the player does not agree to a new deal by then.
Guehi’s ability to play the left-sided centre-back role, his ball-playing composure, and his proven Premier League experience make him an ideal replacement to Konate.
