Scotland 4-2 Denmark: Andy Robertson’s emotional admission about late Liverpool star Diogo Jota

Following their incredible 4-2 victory against Denmark which saw Scotland qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Andrew Robertson gave an emotional post-match interview where he paid tribute to former teammate Diogo Jota.

The Scotland international, the Liverpool squad and supporters were left shaken when their teammate tragically passed away in the summer following a car accident. And speaking to BBC Sport following Scotland's historic result, Robertson stated that he had been thinking about his friend in the build-up to the match.

He said: "I think I've hidden it well, but today I've been in bits. I know that the age I'm at means that this was my last chance at a World Cup. I couldn't get my mate Diogo Jota out of my head today. We spoke so much about the World Cup.

"He missed out on Qatar 2022 because of injury and I missed out because Scotland never went. We always discussed what it would be like going to this World Cup and I know he'll be somewhere smiling over me tonight."
