Plumlee has had multiple stints with the Steelers, including a few weeks ago when he spent about a week on the practice squad. He initially signed with the team as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft. He is a multi-position athlete from college, but initially chose the Steelers because they believed in him as a quarterback. They seem to like him enough to continue to bring him back, but he will remain on the practice squad bubble for now.

The Steelers brought in a few receivers and quarterbacks for workouts today, so it’s possible they decided to bring back Plumlee over the other options after seeing what else was out there.

This also gives them an athletic quarterback to help simulate Caleb Williams, who they will face this Sunday, on the scout team.

He didn’t end up playing QB in any preseason games for them last year, but he did play as an offensive weapon as well as duties on kick return. In between stints with the Steelers, Plumlee spent the last several months bouncing on and off the practice squad and offseason roster of the Seattle Seahawks.

Henderson originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent to the Atlanta Falcons in 2025. He also spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing with the Steelers in early October. He stuck around the practice squad for over a month, but is now free to sign elsewhere.

Given the Steelers’ track record of practice-squad guys, Henderson could circle back to the Steelers later down the road. He might be a strong candidate to receive a futures contract in January once the season is over, as Pittsburgh begins to fill out its 90-man offseason roster.
