The Seattle Seahawks signed second-year wide receiver Brenden Rice – the son of all-time NFL receiving leader Jerry Rice – to their practice squad on Tuesday.

A 2024 seventh-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Chargers, Brenden Rice appeared in three games for the Chargers last season, logging three snaps on offense and 10 on special teams. He was released by the Chargers prior to this season and then spent a week on the New England Patriots’ practice squad earlier this month before being released.
Brenden Rice began his college career at Colorado before transferring to USC, where he totaled 1,402 receiving yards and 16 touchdown catches over two seasons. As a senior at USC in 2023, he received second-team All-Pac-12 honors after recording 45 catches for 791 yards and a team-high 12 TDs.
Hall of Famer Jerry Rice won three Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers and piled up all-time NFL records of 1,549 receptions, 22,895 receiving yards and 197 TD catches over his historic 20-year career. He capped his career in Seattle, spending nine games with the Seahawks in 2004.
The Seahawks also signed running back Velus Jones to their practice squad. To make room, they released tight end Marshall Lang and cornerback Mike Reid from their practice squad.
