Giants rookie Cam Skattebo claps back at criticism over recent WWE appearance

Cam Skattebo spent the first half of his rookie campaign showing everyone why the New York Giants believed in him. Through eight games, he racked up 101 carries for 410 yards and five touchdowns while adding 24 catches for 207 yards and two more scores through the air.

Then came Oct. 26 against the Philadelphia Eagles. An ankle injury knocked him out, required surgery, and shut down what looked like a promising Rookie of the Year bid.

Skattebo hasn’t disappeared from the spotlight, though. This past weekend alone, he made two appearances at Madison Square Garden. Saturday brought him to UFC 322, and Monday put him front row at WWE’s “Monday Night Raw.” That second visit turned into something nobody expected.

Some fans online questioned why a player rehabbing from surgery would get involved in any kind of physical confrontation. Skattebo fired back at that criticism directly on X Tuesday afternoon.

“Honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on,” Skattebo tweeted. “I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy.”

During the show, the heel faction “Judgment Day” started trash-talking the front row. Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio zeroed in on Giants backup quarterback Drew Schulz and the group sitting with him.

Mysterio took charge, chirping about New York’s championship drought. He leaned toward Skattebo and asked how many years it had been since a New York team won anything meaningful.

“Can you count, Cam? How many years? He don’t know. He can’t count,” Mysterio said before shoving Schulz.

That pushed Skattebo out of his seat. When McDonagh stepped in too close, the rookie shoved back. A brief scuffle broke out involving the wrestlers, Schulz, Skattebo, and other Giants players before security separated everyone.
