Depot After Dark: Smith Gives Out Thanksgiving Food, Wormley Joins Colts, Washington Angry Runs …

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article, but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for Nov. 18.

SMITH GIVES OUT THANKSGIVING FOOD

Jonnu Smith hasn’t had the impact with the Steelers that they hoped he would. He has 26 catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games. He made a Pro Bowl last year, catching 88 passes for 884 yards and 8 touchdowns, so this season has been a step back. However, he’s still having a positive impact on Pittsburgh’s community.

Steelers Community Relations on Twitter shared that Smith recently held a Thanksgiving food distribution to help people for the holiday. It’s a nice gesture from someone who only joined the team this year. While Smith hasn’t been performing on the field, he’s still representing the team well off the field.

WORMLEY JOINS COLTS

Chris Wormley was a defensive lineman with the Steelers from 2020-2022. He initially entered the league in 2017 as a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in 2022, and the Steelers let him leave after that. He struggled to catch on with another team after that, spending time with the Carolina Panthers and Ravens.

Now, he’s joined a new team. The Indianapolis Colts announced that they’ve signed Wormley to their practice squad. He’s only appeared in seven games in the last two seasons, but now, he’s hoping to get his career back on track. The Colts are one of the best teams in the league right now, so it’s a good opportunity for Wormley.

WASHINGTON ANGRY RUNS SHIRT

The Steelers’ offense didn’t have a great day in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, Darnell Washington made an eye-popping play. He caught a pass and destroyed several Bengals defenders, picking up 31 yards. It won him the Angry Run award of the week, presented by analyst Kyle Brandt on Good Morning Football.

Along with that honor, Brandt has created a shirt celebrating Washington’s play, as he shared on Twitter. It’s a great design that really showcases the power Washington had on that play.
