Tennessee Titans coach on Calvin Ridley’s injury: ‘This is a tough one’

NFL rules require players placed on injured reserve to miss at least four games. The Tennessee Titans placed Calvin Ridley on injured reserve on Tuesday, and the former Alabama wide receiver will miss seven games. That’s how many remain on the Titans’ 2025 schedule.

After suffering a broken right fibula during Tennessee’s 16-13 loss to Houston Texans on Sunday, Ridley won’t be back in 2025.

Titans interim coach Mike McCoy started his Monday press conference by talking about Ridley.

“It’s the tough part of the business,” McCoy said. “It really is. And having spent a year with him in Jacksonville, then coming here knowing what the game means to him, being voted a team captain, it’s tough. This is a tough one.

“And he worked so hard to get back to be able to play in the game. And then for the first play, after making a big play for us to start the game, it’s tough. That was a tough one to walk on the field and kind of see that. So I just really want to thank him for everything, for who he is and what he’s done for this team up to this point in time.”

On Sunday, Ridley was on the field for the first time since Oct. 12 after missing the previous three games because of a hamstring injury.

On Tennessee’s first snap against the Texans, quarterback Cam Ward threw to Ridley for a 13-yard gain. But Ridley got hurt on the play.
