Shedeur Sanders’ home broken into during his NFL debut with the Browns

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio ([WOIO](https://www.cleveland19.com/2025/11/17/report-shedeur-sanders-house-broken-into-during-ravens-browns-matchup/)/Gray News) - Shedeur Sanders’ house was broken into during the Cleveland Browns game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Sanders on Sunday made his NFL debut against the Ravens, going 4-of-16 for 47 yards and one touchdown.

Officials say three intruders [stole about $200,000 worth of items](https://www.cleveland19.com/2025/11/18/intruders-wanted-after-stealing-items-totaling-200k-shedeur-sanders-home/) from Sanders’ home.

Medina County Sheriff’s deputies say three suspects were caught on surveillance camera busting into Sanders’ home at 6:46 p.m.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects walking into the backyard through an unlocked glass door in the back of the home, according to the sheriff’s report.

The door led into a bedroom where the suspects ransacked bedside nightstands, the closet, and overturned pillows on the bed, the report said.

The suspects left the bedroom with several bags and items and used their cell phone flashlights to light their way into a nearby office, then the living room, and the second story of the home, surveillance video showed.

The report said the suspects then left the house through the same unlocked bedroom door they came through and ran out the back door.

The break-in lasted 12 minutes, according to a news release.

Deputies describe the suspects as wearing masks and gloves when the break-in took place.

No arrests have been made.

This is the latest in a string of athletes’ homes being broken into while they play.

High-profile players like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow were all victims in the last year.

“This breaking into their homes while they are away especially on a Sunday or a day where there is a game, the criminals know that they’re not going to be in the house, their family most likely is not going to be there, so that’s a good time for them to attempt to break in to those specific homes and residences of pro athletes,” national security expert Timothy Dimoff said.

Dimoff adds that these high-profile athletes have high-tech home security systems that, in some cases, can be breached.

“Their homes are protected by what everybody knows as a WIFI. The WIFI signal is controlled and you can intercept or attempt to intercept or interfere with that WIFI signal with some specific equipment and knowledge,” Dimoff said. “Therefore, when the athletes are gone, it is our belief at my company that they jam the WIFI signal so when they break into a door or a window, it does not activate the alarm system.”

He said there are ways homeowners can protect themselves from these types of criminals.

“What we’re suggesting to these athletes and anybody that has an expensive home is to actually put in a hard-wired alarm system as a backup, so if the criminal jams the WIFI system, which disables it,” Dimoff said. “If they had a backup system that is hardwired and connected to storage batteries in the home, when the WIFI doesn’t set the alarm off, the hardwired alarm will set it off, and it will defeat them from entering the house.”

Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to contact the Medina County Sheriff’s Office at 330-764-3617.
