NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - After Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Houston Texans, Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons cut loose a tirade of frustration.
“Like I’m tired of saving feelings. I’m tired of losing. That’s what I’m tired of doing,” said Simmons. “Guys on this team are fighting. Rid (Calvin Ridley) is fighting. Arden (Key), we fought our way back from injuries, just because the team and this game mean so much to us. Everybody had to take that same approach. Take this approach. We grown men. Everybody has a job to do. And we need to attack this game. We need to attack every day with a better attitude. And like I said, we need to play better football as a team.”
Simmons was not alone in his sentiments about a 1-9 season that’s gone up in flames.
On Monday, Titans interim head coach Mike McCoy responded to questions about how he manages the frustration in the locker room with veteran leaders holding the team accountable.

“Everyone is going to express their opinions differently,” said McCoy. “And I think everybody—the guys do it different ways. And at certain times, in the heat of the battle, someone may say something, but I think we’re trying to win, and that’s what leaders—they’re going to go out and say certain things. And a guy might say it a little differently than some other guys, but they’re leading."
Titans center Lloyd Cushenberry understands the frustration that may be coming from the defense when the offense has struggled to be productive.
“We’re all grown men. Obviously, they’re frustrated. We’re frustrated with ourselves,” said Cushenberry.
“We’re not just out there like ‘ah, we’ll be alright.’ Nah, we’re very disappointed and embarrassed by our performance. We’re all grown men. We can handle direct talk. It’s cool with me.”
The Titans host the Seahawks on Sunday, November 23rd at noon.
