Andy Reid made a simple vow as the Kansas City Chiefs continue to stumble this season.
Coming into the 2025 NFL season, the Chiefs were expected to be one of the teams with a chance of making it to the Super Bowl, given their experience. And while Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce continue to play hard with Reid still patrolling the sidelines, the trio should have enough in the tank to at least be in the hunt.

As it stands, the Chiefs have struggled to be above .500 this season, building frustration in the locker room, which was apparent after Kansas City's latest loss to the Denver Broncos. The frustration was made clear when Kelce spoke to reporters after the defeat to the Broncos.

“We’re not quite as negative as the outside world is,” Reid told reporters Monday during the media availability. “We know what we need to clean up and we need to do it, but the guys, they get it. Some of these guys have been through some pretty good seasons, and this isn’t like this one’s lost.
"We just got to clean up a few of these things and the urgency level, obviously, we got to make sure we take care of that now." Time is running out for the Chiefs to turn things around, especially since the team was expected to make a run at the Super Bowl yet again.
It is clear the situation has become grating for some players, with Kelce's frustration on full display after Kansas City's latest loss. Despite setting the Chiefs' all-time touchdown record of 84, the star had a brief message for reporters who attempted to get his thoughts on the accomplishment.

"If you’re going to ask me about the record, I could care less about that right now," Kelce said simply, understanding that the loss to the Broncos could have had massive playoff implications. Despite Kelce having a resurgent year, the Chiefs are in danger of missing out on the playoffs altogether.
With so much on the line for the Chiefs, Reid understands the margin for error for Kansas City is getting smaller and smaller. That is why the 67-year-old is trying to get his players and coaching staff on the same page with each game mattering more and more.
"Yeah, well, it was just a little bit what we're talking about," Reid continued to reporters. "You've got to, you have to take care of the small things. So, and that's coaches included.

"I mean, whether it's volume, whether it's fundamentals, you know, it's you got to take care of the small things. And when I tell you I'm responsible for that, I'm responsible for that. And then the players have to do the same thing, take care of the small things.

"Why are we having the penalties? And then let's fix that. And don't point to the officials, don't point here or there, take responsibility for it. If it's fundamentals, if you're on the back end and you need to plant and drive, why didn't we do our offensive line?
"You didn't step with the right foot, all those things you control. And you've got to take care of those small things, but they all add up."
The Chiefs are back in action against the Indianapolis Colts, with Kansas City hoping to snap a two-game losing streak.
