We all know Chelsea’s “remarkable” top rated player this season – but second choice will…

Chelsea are more than a quarter of the way through their league season and are in the middle of their final international break until March.

On the London is Blue podcast they took this as a chance to look at the squad and who has been over (and under) performing so far.

“I would say that without doubt Moises Caicedo is Chelsea’s player of the season,” presenter Dan Dormer said.

“If he keeps going like he’s going, he will be top 5 Ballon d’Or at the end of the season. He is unbelievable, He’s the best in the world. If he ends up with 9 or 10 goals this season and breaks the tackle record,” co-host Nick Verlaney added.

“It’s remarkable to watch, it’s someone who has the knowledge and the anticipation and the physical gifts to put it all together in a package. Then he has the final ball… it’s a scary proposition… this team could be really, really special if they were all fit at the same time for an extended period.”

Also getting a ton of praise were the likes of Reece James and Enzo Fernandez. They noted that Alejandro Garnacho was actually the second highest rated Blue on most stat sites – but in part because of a limited sample size.

The podcast also took a look at the season as a whole, and quite correctly pointed out that the “vibes” weren’t quite matching up with the results, which have seen the Blues up to third place.

Chelsea’s rotation policy is something which is being questioned – but not internally. The club are fully behind Enzo Maresca’s decisions, according to the BBC.
