Newcastle United predicted starting XI v Man City as Eddie Howe makes four major changes

A 3-1 defeat at Brentford before the international break has left Newcastle lingering just two points above the Premier League relegation zone following the opening 11 matches.

The Magpies had taken the lead in their last two Premier League games against West Ham United and Brentford but ended up losing by the same scoreline. Howe’s side have dropped nine points from winning positions, the most in the division.

And in terms of their away record, Newcastle are without a domestic away victory since April, which has really put the pressure on getting results at St James’ Park.

Visiting Tyneside this weekend is Pep Guardiola’s Man City, who can move a point behind leaders Arsenal with a win.

Howe will be forced into at least one change to his line-up with Dan Burn serving a one-match suspension. Fitness checks will also be made on the likes of Tino Livramento, Nick Pope, Anthony Gordon, Joelinton, Yoane Wissa and Will Osula.
