"His qualities are so good he can play in any team in the world" - Ex-Liverpool star claims Real Madrid might look to sign Reds superstar

Former Liverpool midfielder Igor Biscan has tipped Reds star Dominik Szoboszlai to end up at Real Madrid due to his excellent attributes. The Hungary international has been one of the better performers for Arne Slot's side amid their struggles this season.

In a chat with BoyleSports, Biscan stated that Real Madrid may be interested in the former RB Leipzig midfielder in the coming windows. He pointed to the durability of the 25-year-old, explaining that he possesses numerous qualities which make him a top-level player fit for the Spanish giants.

"Real Madrid might be interested in Dominik Szoboszlai because his qualities are so good he can play in any team in the world. He is such a good player and is able to play in so many positions that any team in the world would probably want to have a player like him. He can defend, he can really be the one to put pressure, to be aggressive, he can deliver from set pieces, he can attack the box. He can do whatever he wants to do on the football pitch and be a threat, and run the whole day, and he’s also very good looking!", he said (via metro.co.uk).

Szoboszlai is in his third season at Anfield, having signed for the Reds in the summer of 2023 for a fee in excess of £60 million. He has appeared 110 times for the reigning Premier League champions, scoring 17 goals and providing 17 assists in his time with Liverpool.

Liverpool coach Arne Slot has occasionally chosen to play Szoboszlai at right-back this season following the exit of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid in the summer. The Spanish giants could yet return to Merseyside for the Hungary captain, who has continued to impress with his quality and versatility.

Ex-Liverpool star reveals reason for Real Madrid snub

Former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has revealed the reason behind his decision to turn down a move to Real Madrid. The Brazil international has been approached twice by the Spanish giants but opted against representing them each time.

Firmino told TNT Sports Brasil that he was approached by Los Blancos over a transfer in the summer of 2023. He pointed out that he was not the club's first choice target and would have had to wait for a long time, and so he decided to move to Saudi Arabia, instead.

“There was, of course [interest from Real]. My agency told me about it. And yes, it was recent, again, recently, but not like before, you know, when there was that offer to go to Arabia. Back then, there was real interest from Madrid. But there were a lot of factors. I wasn’t the first or even the second option, so I would have had to wait quite a bit. Not that I’m impatient, but I had to wait, you know? Then the offer from Al-Ahli came, and I had to pray and think if that was really the right thing. So, that’s how it happened – I went to Arabia, and I believe the purpose was fulfilled there. I think that’s what was meant to happen. Of course, Real Madrid is a massive club. It would have been a great honour and pleasure to play for Real Madrid", he said (via thisisanfield.com).

Liverpool cult hero Firmino left the Premier League side after his contract expired in 2023, and opted to join Al-Ahli. He turned down Los Blancos in successive summer windows in 2023 and 2024, and now plays in Qatar with Al-Sadd.
