The ex-Brazil international and Manchester City star Jo has been arrested after a court order for unpaid child maintenance.
Police detained Jo, whose full name is Joao Alves de Assis Silva, at a barbecue at a street food kiosk in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, after officers located him during the event on November 18. He is alleged to have not paid maintenance to his ex, the influencer Maiara Quiderolly.

The warrant was linked to a 2024 process involving unpaid child maintenance. The debt stated in the order was 220,744.57 Brazilian reals (£31,500), and police took the former striker to the 16a DP in Barra da Tijuca after carrying out the arrest.
Reports said this was his fourth arrest over unpaid maintenance. In 2024, he had been detained twice in Campinas and Contagem for the same issue.
