Cincinnati Bengals superstar receiver Ja’Marr Chase is set to forfeit a sizable amount of money after being suspended for his actions during Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Chase had his suspension upheld by the NFL Tuesday night after the league determined that he spit on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey.
ESPN reports that Ja’Marr Chase will now forfeit his $448,333 weekly paycheck, as well as his $58,823 per-game active bonus.
In total, he will miss out on $507,156.
The Bengals, who are 3-7, will also be without Chase’s playmaking ability against one of the top teams in the AFC in the New England Patriots.
Ja’Marr Chase was involved in an altercation with Jalen Ramsey during Pittsburgh’s 34-12 victory on Sunday. Ramsey was ejected after throwing a punch at Chase and said after the game that he threw the punch because Chase spit on him.
Chase denied spitting on Ramsey, but the NFL viewed footage showing that he did spit in his direction.
A former LSU star, Chase caught 3 passes for 30 yards against the Steelers this past weekend.
On the season, he has 79 catches for 861 yards and 5 touchdowns across 10 games.
Ja’Marr Chase has made the Pro Bowl every year since arriving in the NFL in 2021. He has also earned All-Pro honors twice, including being a first-team selection last season.
He has had a solid season in 2025, despite Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow only appearing in two games on the year.
