**Chelsea legend John Terry firmly believes Estevao is “going to be a world-class player” in the future.**
The Brazilian international has made a big impression since arriving from Palmeiras in August, and Terry says that while fans should not expect fireworks straight away, the Blues have a really special talent on their hands:
“Just wanna touch on how good Estevao has been for us already at such a young age. Been a breath of fresh air, great for the supporters. The supporters love him. I think he’s one we’ve got to be a little bit patient with, but he’s an absolute superstar, and I think he’s going to be a world-class player.”
“Delighted to have him at Chelsea. I think he would be magnificent at the Baller League tonight. I’m sure he grew up playing on the streets of Brazil in physical games like this. I love how strong he is as well, how physical he is. He’s quite confrontational, he’s aggressive. The supporters love it. Not only does he get you off the edge of your seat, he’s showing a little bit of proper Chels in him as well.”
Estevao’s numbers so far this season
------------------------------------
The 18-year-old has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 16 appearances, but that does not tell the whole story. Head coach Enzo Maresca has actually used him as a substitute more often than not, and he is actually averaging a goal involvement every 131 minutes in all competitions.
When you factor in how young Estevao is, and he is adapting to a new country, language and league, the sky really is the limit for the youngster.
Will he start for Chelsea this weekend?
---------------------------------------
Considering his excellent performances, some supporters want Estevao to be starting week in, week out, but Maresca is correct in his approach in terms of easing him in.
It is especially important that he isn’t overused, especially after coming back late from an international break. Brazil played Tunisia on Tuesday, and to expect him to start in a Saturday lunchtime kick-off [**against Burnley**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-predicted-lineup-vs-burnley/) may be asking a bit too much.
