Newcastle United trio Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Nick Pope have all trained ahead of Saturday night's clash with Man City.
Gordon had not appeared in training until this morning after suffering a hip injury, which ruled him out of the encounter at Brentford, plus England World Cup qualifying duty.
Tonali was not risked for Italy's 4-1 hiding against Norway at the San Siro but is clear of any fitness concerns after it emerged he was only pulled out because of fear of suspension with next year's World Cup play-offs in mind.
Pope was taken off during the 3-1 defeat against Brentford but has gone through concussion protocols and will be available for selection against Pep Guardiola's side. Gordon had been deemed 50-50 but has been given a glimmer of hope to face City.
Howe had told BBC Newcastle last night: "Anthony [Gordon] we will wait and see, it will be touch and go for the game.
"Sandro should be fine. Nick had concussion but he has passed the protocols there, so he should be fine.
"We have still got a few who we are nursing back. Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall in the early stages – although he has made a couple of really good appearances [for England Under-21s].
"Yoane Wissa is still out but starting to up his work now. So yeah, we are looking in a healthier place."
As reported by Chronicle Live earlier this week Aaron Ramsdale is on standby to take a place between the posts against Man City. Ramsdale came on for his Premier League debut against Brentford before the international break.
The Magpies return to Premier League action on Saturday for a 5.30pm kick off when they take on City at St James' Park.
Newcastle have been hovering in the bottom half of the table and are struggling for consistency with the weight of three competitions. Some fans are concerned about the 14th place position going into a long hard winter and defeat to Man City could drop them into the relegation places if other results go against them.
