The Halas Beat: Is Special Teams a weak link for the Bears?

The Chicago Bears are now 7-3, sitting comfortably at the very top of the NFC North, finding a way to win games and make the impossible possible. With seven games left in the Bears season, the push to make the playoffs is officially on.

While the Bears have yet to beat a team with a winning record in 2025, the season has still played out in a positive manner. Chicago has multiple three-game winning streaks and second-year quarterback Caleb Williams continues to get better each week. The Bears are also receiving some contributions from their rookie class, including Colston Loveland, Kyle Monangai, and Luther Burden III.

Despite the Bears success, one of the major talking points over the last few weeks has also been the state of the special teams unit. While Devin Duvernay had a 56-yard return to set up a Cairo Santos field goal in Sunday's victory over the Vikings, the Bears have still struggled to produce a kicking, punting, and returning game that can have a significant impact on games.

On the latest episode of The Halas Beat, hosts Usayd Koshul and Steve Letizia discuss Burden's new role on offense, what to expect from linebacker Noah Sewell, and what the state of the Bears special teams unit really is.
