Real Madrid versatile forward issues update on renewal – ‘Always want to be here’

Brahim Diaz has found minutes hard to come by this season at Real Madrid under the management of Xabi Alonso.

The 26-year-old Moroccan international has fallen behind the likes of Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono in the pecking order, limiting his involvement on the field.

Despite that, reports of a contract renewal have been doing the rounds for weeks now, with Fabrizio Romano even suggesting that an extension was as good as done.

Brahim Diaz opens up on his renewal status

Speaking to the media while away on national team duty with Morocco, Brahim provided an update on the situation of his contract renewal and future at Real Madrid.

“Back at Real Madrid, the best club in the world. I always want to be here and help my teammates and give my best,” Brahim told El Chiringuito TV.

“Above all, being able to do so at the best club in the world is a source of pride. We’ll see what happens with my contract renewal,” the versatile forward added.

So far this season, Brahim has featured in 13 matches across all competitions for Real Madrid, but has played only 423 minutes, in which he has one goal and two assists.

It has given way to speculations that the 26-year-old former Manchester City starlet is not entirely happy with his situation at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, with his statement, Brahim has made it clear that he remains fully committed to Real Madrid and an extension on his contract, which runs until 2027, might not be far away.
