The 22-year-old guard has impressed with his all-around game, showing tremendous potential on both ends of the court and already receiving high praise from his peers, along with elite comparisons for his outstanding defensive work.

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, speaking on his podcast, even compared Coward to two-time NBA Finals MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard, believing he could follow a similar path as he has already shown the tools to become a star two-way player in this league.

"He could 1000% be like Kawhi Leonard, no questions asked," Green said on The Draymond Green Show.

"Cedric Coward, if he can get better with the ball, has the potential to be like a Kawhi Leonard."

"He’s already a really good defender. At this age right now, he’s a better shooter than Kawhi was, not quite as athletic as Kawhi was, but I think Cedric Coward’s player comparison is a healthy Kawhi Leonard," Draymond stated.

In his first 15 games this season with the Grizzlies, Coward has been among the top-performing rookies, averaging 14.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 47.7% from the field and 40.3% from three-point range.
