The Dallas Mavericks continue to feel the negative aftereffects of trading Luka Doncic. Although General Manager Nico Harrison has now been fired, a lot of questions remain. Perhaps the biggest one of those is about the other superstar in the trade, Anthony Davis, and his future.
AD’s arrival from the Los Angeles Lakers was supposed to be the bright spot in the trade. However, his injury problems have resurfaced this season. The power forward has only managed to play in five games, with a calf injury keeping him sidelined. And as fan dissatisfaction grows, it seems he might not be in Dallas much longer.

“Dumont and his new basketball cabinet, which once again includes former majority owner Mark Cuban, are plotting to pivot to the future with 18-year-old Cooper Flagg,” Tim MacMahon reported for ESPN.

“Multiple team sources said the Mavs, who are 4-11 and outside the playoff picture in the West, will also explore the trade market for Davis, the 10-time All-Star big man who was the headliner in the return of the Luka Doncic deal, as part of that process before this season’s deadline.”

The Mavericks have been poor in Davis’ absence, and his return is unlikely to change much. In his five NBA appearances this season, AD has averaged 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. A trade before the deadline might prove to be ideal for the big man as well as the franchise.
