Former Seahawks just ended Pete Carroll era in front of primetime viewers

The Las Vegas Raiders stink. Normally, Seattle Seahawks fans might not care much about that, and, in fact, some might actively root for it. Many don't easily forget the days when the two teams were in the same division, and Vegas (then Oakland or Los Angeles) was a hated rival.

2025 is different, however. Many 12s might have hoped the Raiders would at least be decent for one reason: Former Seattle head coach [Pete Carroll is now](https://12thmanrising.com/pete-carroll-loyalty-tested-worst-way-for-las-vegas-raiders) the head coach for Las Vegas. Carroll was a beloved coach for 14 seasons with the Seahawks, and he didn't want to leave when the team forced him to.

It was the correct decision, of course. The team had stalled on the field, and the draft classes were not producing as well. Carroll had final control over the roster in Seattle, and he wasn't willing to give that up. The team made him.

Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll might be doomed with the Las Vegas Raiders

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a year of getting paid by the Seahawks (his contract was guaranteed in 2024, even though he didn't have a true job with the team), he was hired by Vegas. He no longer had full roster control, but instead was tasked with turning an underperforming team into a better one. His team, through Week 11, has failed him.

This is the case even though the Raiders have added a bunch of former Seahawks to their roster. The key one was quarterback Geno Smith. Smith was solid for Seattle as QB1 in 2022 and 2023, but regressed in 2024. He threw too many interceptions. He has picked up this season where he left off last year, and has an NFL-leading 13 in 2025.

In fact, Smith has more games this season where he hasn't thrown a touchdown pass (three) than he has where he hasn't thrown an interception (two). Overall, he has 12 touchdown passes versus those 13 picks. That's awful.

Part of the issue is that Las Vegas's offensive line is terrible and not giving Smith, who tends to hold onto the ball too much anyway, much time. But, of course, there is a former Seattle player on that unit, too. Vegas picked up failed Seahawks draft pick Stone Forsythe during the season, and he was forced to start because of an injury.

In the last three games, Forsythe has allowed at least four pressures in each game. During the Raiders' primetime game in Week 11, the Dallas Cowboys destroyed Forsythe and the rest of the former Seahawks on _Monday Night Football_. Forsythe allowed five pressures, including a sack.

Even Jamal Adams, who has been surprisingly decent this season after Vegas signed him and he was moved to inside linebacker, was exposed by Dallas. The fact that he allowed completions on all four of his targets, one for a touchdown, will not be shocking to Seattle Seahawks fans who got used to seeing Adams provide poor coverage.

The [Las Vegas Raiders are now 2-8](https://12thmanrising.com/only-took-pete-carroll-5-games-do-what-he-never-did-seattle-seahawks-head-coach) with little hope of improving. Pete Carroll could be one-and-done in Vegas. A lot of former Seahawks players are partly to blame for that.
