Liverpool are not afraid to spend money if they believe it will help them out long term.
The Reds were the biggest spenders over the summer, with many rivals fans looking back at this in amusement given how poorly they have started the season.
Bar Hugo Ekitike, none of the new signings have done much of note, although that does not seem to be deterring Liverpool from bringing in even more.

Antoine Semenyo is the most hotly tipped to join next, with the winger having a £65m release clause that can be activated in January.
This will certainly tempt Liverpool, but based on how much they have spent already, can they afford it? Well, that has now been answered.

Liverpool remain in a strong financial position
The Reds may have spent a lot of money over the summer, but they equally made a lot through sales too.
As well as this, as one of the biggest clubs in the world, their revenue is a lot higher than many other teams, which is why they can keep spending big.
And despite spending almost £450m in the summer, The Athletic report the Reds could still be able to fund a move for Semenyo in January without further implications.

They state that “their attempts to sign Marc Guehi on deadline day showed there were more funds available for the right player,” with player sales also a big factor.
If add-ons are reached, Liverpool can make up to £260m in sales alone, hence why they are in such a strong financial position.

They conclude by saying that the Reds might choose to address their defensive issue first, however, suggesting going in for Semenyo is not a nailed-on conclusion.
Liverpool would be smart to bring in a defender before Antoine Semenyo
Although Liverpool do need a winger after not replacing Luis Diaz, they still have a few options that might serve them fairly well until the end of the season.
Whereas in defence, their options are very limited, and with there already being big problems in this area of the pitch for them, then additions might be needed here first.
Guehi would be the obvious choice, especially to get there ahead of any competition, although convincing him to jump ship mid-season will prove tricky.
There are plenty more names being linked, though, suggesting that the £65m they would spend on Semenyo should go elsewhere first instead.
