NBA Power Rankings: Pistons Make Huge Leap; Clippers Drop

A handful of surprise teams that came out blazing have already cooled off, while others are finally rounding into form as the season settles in.

The Oklahoma City Thunder entered the year viewed as the league's top squad, and so far, they've given everyone zero reason to rethink that. Even with key players still working their way back to full health, the Thunder are mowing teams down with ease.

Their point differential sits at a staggering +15.5 - easily the best mark in the NBA - and they've looked every bit as dominant as that number suggests. Once they're fully healthy, the Thunder might be downright unbeatable.

Statistically, they're backing it up, too. Oklahoma City ranks fifth in offensive rating (118.2), first in defensive rating (102.8), and first in net rating (+15.4). They're rolling, and it doesn't look like anyone's slowing them down anytime soon.

The Thunder are at the top of the pack; however, there are others who could be gunning for that top spot.

The Nuggets, Pistons, Lakers and Rockets are all in the mix thus far. The likelihood of those four teams being among the best in the league is very reasonable.

Teams like the Spurs, Cavaliers, and Timberwolves also have a strong case. However, as we approach a month into the season, it is the Thunder’s title to lose.

There’s a long way to go in the season, but thus far, here are where the 30 teams stand.
