Liverpool could potentially allow youngster Rio Ngumoha to head out on loan during the January transfer window, as well as one other player.
The Reds could be busy when January rolls around, with Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo recently linked with a move to Anfield midway through the season.
On the flip side, Federico Chiesa has been backed to possibly join Serie A side Napoli at that point, although it would be an odd decision to let him leave, even if Semenyo joined.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Harvey Elliott could return from his loan spell at Aston Villa prematurely, having found it tough for playing time so far this season.
Now, according to The Athletic [via This Is Anfield], Liverpool are “willing” to consider loan offers for Ngumoha in January, as well as fellow youngster Trey Nyoni:
“If a suitable opportunity opens up, Liverpool are willing to listen, but that also depends on the fitness and form of the senior midfielders.”
Should Liverpool loan out both youngsters?
There is plenty of sense in Liverpool giving Ngumoha and Nyoni a fresh challenge in the second half of the campaign, assuming Arne Slot doesn’t consider them key players for the time being.
The former burst onto the scene back in August with a memorable last-gasp winner in the 3-2 victory away to Newcastle United in the Premier League, with Slot lauding the teenage winger after the game:
“It was a great goal for a 16-year-old. Rio can finish so well for his age. I did hear someone say afterwards in the dressing room he would have taken a first touch, but he is so confident. For his age, he is a really good finisher.”
Ngumoha is arguably the more likely of the two players to feature more this season, although it is easy to forget how young he still is, but Nyoni is well down the midfield pecking order, so he would particularly benefit from a move away.
There is some risk in moving Ngumoha on, considering Liverpool aren’t blessed with wide options currently, but he still isn’t the finished article and could return a more rounded player next summer.
