The 20 Man City players set to be on the plane for 2026 World Cup - and one who might miss out

20 Man City players have qualified for the World Cup in the summer, including some, for the first time.

The Man City boss has seen a lot of his players leave for international duty, with 19 names away over the past week and a half. However, with the World Cup coming up in the summer, Guardiola will be delighted that 20 of his players are set to appear in the tournament, with several having high hopes of winning the trophy.

Here are the 20 Man City players who have qualified to appear in the USA, Mexico and Canada in June and July...

Which Man City players will be at the World Cup?

Ait-Nouri (Algeria), Doku (Belgium), Gvardiol (Croatia), Kovacic (Croatia), Marmoush (Egypt), Trafford (England), Stones (England), O’Reilly (England), Foden (England), Cherki (France), Donnarumma (Italy [Playoffs]), Ake (Netherlands), Reijnders (Netherlands), Bobb (Norway), Haaland (Norway), Nunes (Portugal), Dias (Portugal), Silva (Portugal), Khusanov (Azerbaijan), Rodri (Spain)

Looking at the players who have qualified for City, we’ve got to start with the four England players. Nico O’Reilly came into Thomas Tuchel’s squad for this international break, and could see himself starting at left-back. Foden is battling with Jude Bellingham for the number 10 role, Stones will likely start at centre-back, and Trafford will back-up Pickford in goal.

City’s African players Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush, will feature for Algeria in the World Cup, and during AFCON next month, whereas Abdukodir Khusanov will feature for the first time with Azerbaijan.

The Cityzens have a lot of European players who will play big roles for their national teams, with Gvardiol and Kovacic for Croatia, Doku for Belgium, and Oscar Bobb and Erling Haaland for Norway for the first time.

In terms of nations with a really good chance of lifting the trophy, Rodri will appear for Spain, who won the European championships in 2024, Rayan Cherki for France, who won the World Cup in 2018, and the trio from Portugal, all hoping for World Cup glory; Not to mention the English players.

Gianluigi Donnarumma may not qualify

Donnarumma could miss out on the World Cup as his Italy side is going to have to make their way through the playoffs, alongside the likes of Ireland, Denmark and Poland - the playoffs will take place in March.

If Italy fail to qualify, then the Man City keeper will be the only City international player who has failed to reach the World Cup, but his Italy side is are major favourite to come through the playoff stages.
