Browns Shedeur Sanders on being Starting QB No. 42 Since 1999: “I feel like I’m the guy. I know …

BEREA -- One thing that cannot be said about quarterback Shedeur Sanders is that he lacks confidence as Sanders is set to start his first NFL game for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday against the Raiders in Las Vegas.

Sanders will be third different starting quarterback for the Browns this season and now will become the 42nd different starting quarterback for the Browns since 1999. He will also be the 18th rookie quarterback to start for the Browns in that time period.

After being named the starting quarterback, Sanders spoke to the media before practice. Sanders was asked how he will prepare himself to be ready this week.

"The same how I always am, knowing exactly where everybody's going to be," Sanders said before practice on Wednesday. "Prepare, understand that (the Raiders) have a great defense, they're coached by a great coach and they have great players on that side of the ball.

"Just doing what I can to prepare mentally, physically, emotionally, to make sure I'm my best self."

Sanders is hoping he can make the most of his start and can become the long-term answer for the Browns.

"I feel like I'm the guy," Sanders said. "I know I'm the guy."

Sanders is taking his preparation day by day to be ready by Sunday.

"I think in the moment, present today," he said. "I go over the game plan and make sure I execute that. When you start moving too fast in life sometimes, you miss the small details of things, so I never want to overlook anything."

Sanders said he thinks it will help him to get all of the first team reps with the offense. Before Wednesday's practice, Sanders' only work with the first team offense was in relief in last Sunday's loss to the Ravens.

"Knowing that I have a piece of offense and a say so and how things fit my eye and place the players exactly where they need to be," Sanders said. "Seeing how they come in and out of routes, seeing the structure of the alignment, seeing the set, just having a feeling like I'm more of a feel type of person, so that's how I learn, that's how I do everything."

Sanders said he felt that getting his feet wet against the Ravens last Sunday helped him.
