Marc Guehi is set to leave Crystal Palace when his contract expires at the end of the season, with Liverpool among the clubs interested in the England international.
A late £35m move for Guehi fell through on Deadline Day during the summer transfer window.
Liverpool head into the January window short at centre-back, having lost summer signing Giovanni Leoni to a long-term injury.
Uncertainty surrounds Ibrahima Konate’s future, with his contract also set to expire this summer.
Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has already confirmed that Guehi had informed the club of his intention not to sign a new contract and to leave next year.
The England international’s current deal with the Eagles expires on June 30, allowing him to leave on a free transfer.
Guehi will also be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club once the January transfer window opens on January 1, 2026.
“I think Marc has already told us that he doesn’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year,” Glasner said.
“The club wanted [him to stay]. They offered Marc a new contract. But he said, “no, I want to make something different. And that’s normal.
“And for us, it’s how we can deal with this situation? [What] is the best way to get this next step done?
“And that’s all about how we are talking together.”
According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace believe only Liverpool may attempt to make a move for Marc Guehi in January.
Other major European sides interested in the defender are only prepared to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
The Reds remain keen on Guehi, though it is unclear whether they will attempt to secure him in the winter window or wait to sign him as a free agent.
There is, however, competition from several top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
