Plenty of Boston Red Sox fans are wondering what the future holds for 25-year-old first baseman Triston Casas. The young slugger has obvious talent at the plate, but he’s only delivered on that potential in one season — a 2023 campaign that saw him tally 24 homers and an .856 OPS on the way to a third-place finish in American League Rookie of the Year voting behind Gunnar Henderson and Tanner Bibee. Injuries have plagued Casas, most recently in the form of a ruptured patellar tendon on May 2 that ended his 2025 season. Reports indicate that Casas is on track to be healthy and ready to go by Opening Day 2026, and Red Sox manager Alex Cora talked about Casas on Wednesday while appearing as a guest on Foul Territory, asserting that Boston has in no way given up on Casas. Everyone around baseball is rooting for Casas to get healthy and stay healthy. He’s an entertaining guy and very fun to watch hit when he’s right. With his career plate appearances still below 1,000, people forget just how much MLB baseball Casas has ahead of him down the road.
