The Denver Broncos were the best team in the NFL during the preseason. Head coach Sean Payton gushed about his team and talked about how he felt they had a legitimate chance to get to the Super Bowl.

Fast forward to today, and it seems like he was telling the truth. The Broncos could ride a red-hot streak to the AFC playoffs.

“The Broncos have the longest home win streak in the NFL, having won 11 straight games in Denver. Right now, as the No. 1 seed in the AFC, the Broncos have home field advantage until the Super Bowl. That’s a dangerous combo,” Zac Stevens wrote on X.

However, this team isn’t flawless. Bo Nix has been one of the most erratic quarterbacks in the league this season, regressing from his impressive rookie season. The Broncos also lost starting running back J.K. Dobbins to injury, and for a team with the most rushing yards per game, that could become a huge issue.

That being said, the Broncos’ defense is utterly dominant. Even without injured cornerback Patrick Surtain II, it has found ways to keep opposing playmakers in check, all while putting historic pressure on the quarterback.

Issues aside, this is a well-coached team that’s stacked on both sides of the ball. With other teams usually not doing as well in Denver’s thin air, the table is set for a deep postseason run.

The AFC West is the Broncos’ to lose after their Week 11 win against the Kansas City Chiefs. But even though there’s still plenty of football left to be played this season, it’s hard to argue that Denver isn’t the best team in the NFL right now.
