Japan have handed a call-up to a Liverpool midfielder ahead of their upcoming cup game.
Wataru Endo, who has been a peripheral figure for Liverpool this season, recently represented Japan during the November international break.
He made his first appearance in five games for the national team in Tuesday’s 3-0 friendly win over Bolivia, having lost his starting spot to Mainz midfielder Kaishu Sano.
Meanwhile, another Liverpool player has also been called up by Japan.
Liverpool FC Women star Fuka Nagano has been named in Japan’s squad for the MS&AD Cup 2025 against the Canada Women’s National Team.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 29.
Since joining Liverpool FC Women from North Carolina Courage in January 2023, Nagano has been impressive for the Reds.
Nagano is a former Asian Young Footballer of the Year and was part of Japan’s U20 World Cup-winning team in 2018.
She started her career at Urawa Reds in Japan’s top division and has also represented Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels, Chifure AS Elfen, and Mynavi Sendai.
She scored her first goal for Liverpool FC Women during a win over Manchester United at Anfield in March 2025.
Ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, Nagano signed a new contract with the club, securing her future at Anfield.
