Quiet Eagles roster move just clarified what Lane Johnson move is coming next

The Philadelphia Eagles are still trying to figure out what to do about injured right tackle Lane Johnson after suffering his Lisfranc sprain in his foot in the 16-9 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 11. It has opened the door for one player to work his way back onto the 53-man roster.

Philly opened the 21-day practice window of rookie sixth-round pick offensive lineman Myles Hinton. After spending all season on IR, Hinton is one step closer to returning after suffering an undisclosed injury in preseason.

Hinton was one of the three offensive linemen the Eagles selected on Day 3 of the draft after playing his college football career at Michigan. Before his injury, Pro Football Focus graded him as the 76th-best offensive tackle in the NFL during the preseason out of 114.

This could be bad news for Lane Johnson in the upcoming weeks

Initial reports indicate Johnson is looking at being out for four to six weeks with the injury, which could mean he will miss most of the regular season. He had started 10 games for the Eagles, allowing no sacks or quarterback hits during the season.

Fred Johnson is expected to step in for Lane Johnson and play the right tackle position. That incident has occurred multiple times, including the first time Fred Johnson filled in for Lane Johnson in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, which sparked a massive Eagles comeback to win the game.

Hinton is more likely to be a depth player and not expected to play unless something happens to Fred Johnson as well. The Eagles most likely will wait it out until something absolutely needs to be done for Hinton to be active.

As for Lane Johnson, he could very much find his way onto the IR or longer if he requires surgery. No matter what, it feels like he is going to miss a lot of time for the Eagles until the playoffs.

There will be big questions about the Eagles' offensive line until everyone knows for certain that Fred Johnson can be the proper replacement for Lane Johnson.
