Los Angeles Rams See 6-Foot-8 Giant Land on Injured Reserve

Los Angeles Rams starting offensive lineman Rob Havenstein has battled a nagging ankle injury since Week 2 and knee bursitis, which sidelined him for Weeks 5-7 and has negatively impacted his performance. The right tackle has allowed 22 pressures, 15 hurries, six quarterback hits, and one sack, according to PFF, while playing every single offensive snap in the seven games he has played. Since Havenstein isn’t at 100%, the Rams should consider sitting him until he’s healthy.

According to Adam Grosbard of the Los Angeles Daily News, the Rams have placed Rob Havenstein on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least the next four games. The earliest the right tackle can return is Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks. Havenstein landing on IR should ensure he has extra time to fully recover and isn’t rushed back, allowing him to play at a high level.

Warren McClendon Jr. will take over as the starting right tackle. The former fifth-round pick did a solid job in pass protection and excelled at run blocking, allowing only five pressures and five hurries across three starts, while posting an 82.4 run-blocking grade, according to PFF. With Rob Havenstein a free agent this offseason, McClendon has a golden opportunity to audition as the team’s right tackle of the future.
