Colts’ Daniel Jones comments on Indiana football’s Fernando Mendoza

Daniel Jones, the starting quarterback of the nearby Indianapolis Colts, addressed the media on Wednesday and [was asked about](https://x.com/KBowen1070/status/1991204644169605248?s=20) Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

The two have led their respective in-state teams to new heights this season with Jones’ Colts sitting at 8-2 and Mendoza’s Hoosiers off to an 11-0 start for the first time in program history. Jones had the opportunity to watch Indiana play when Indianapolis was in Germany for a game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Jones watched Indiana take on Penn State on the road with a teammate: former Nittany Lion and current Colts tight end Tyler Warren. That matchup, of course, came down to the wire with Mendoza leading a late go-ahead drive capped [by an improbable throw to the back of the endzone](/indiana-football/22462/iu-football-omar-cooper-catch-penn-state).

“Tyler was kinda struggling there at the end,” Jones said.

Jones noted that he had the opportunity to speak with Mendoza, who’s projected to be a first round pick in next spring’s NFL Draft, and let him know that he’d be available for any help he’d need.

“He’s fun to watch,” Jones said. “He’s a really good player, good passer, you can tell he’s smart and knows where the ball’s supposed to go.”
