The Arizona State running back everyone fell in love with during his college days is keeping that same energy alive in New York. Cam Skattebo might be sidelined with a season-ending ankle injury, but his personality hasn’t taken a day off.
Skattebo has become a quick favorite around the NFL thanks to quirky antics that Sun Devil fans recognized immediately. The downtime from his injury has only given him more opportunities to lean into that lively persona. The Giants’ fourth-round pick has shown up at multiple sporting events this year, and the internet has been watching closely.

His most recent viral moment might be the wildest yet. A live stream clip making the rounds on X shows Skattebo celebrating one thousand subscribers in spectacular fashion.
He shotgunned an energy drink straight from a cleat. The whole thing. He tilted that shoe back and drained every drop before erupting into shouts, flexes, and expressions so animated it looked like he had been starving for weeks.

NFL Fans had plenty to say about it. One fan wrote, “His brain 10000% needs to be studied.”
Another added, “Dude is a trip.” Someone else shared, “I just don’t understand why he’s so retarded!”

The injury that ended his season was gruesome. During a tackle on a pass over the middle, Skattebo’s right leg folded underneath him and caused an open ankle dislocation. Medical staff immediately applied an air cast before rushing him off the field for same-day emergency surgery.
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (44) warms up before a Thursday Night Football game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Oct. 9, 2025.
Doctors later discovered additional damage including a fractured fibula and a torn deltoid ligament. The broadcast footage and medical reports from the following day confirmed what everyone feared.
Early evaluations shut down any hope of a return. Reports have since confirmed he’ll spend the rest of 2025 rehabbing the ankle and repairing those damaged ligaments.
