The Kansas City Chiefs are at risk of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014, but they are still statistically better than the team that was 9-1 at this point. Even though if the playoffs began today, the Chiefs are the ninth seed and would miss the postseason, people are still believing in the team at this point.
Let’s take a closer look at where Pro Football Focus has placed the team in their weekly power rankings.

Pro Football Focus’ Thomas Valentine curated a Week 12 NFL Power Rankings, and the Kansas City Chiefs managed to stay put at the second spot on the list. He also had the following to say about the decision:
“Alarm bells must surely be ringing in Kansas City. On one hand, the Chiefs aren’t playing poorly. The offense has struggled in its last two outings, but this version of the Chiefs’ offense probably has a higher ceiling than previous ones. But after the 22-19 loss to the Broncos, the Chiefs are now 5-5 and officially on the outside looking in. They’re also four games behind the Broncos in the AFC West. The division feels all but gone, but if the offense – which still sits second in EPA per play – can lock in and make a run, Kansas City can push its way back into the playoffs via the wild card.”
The Chiefs have a difficult schedule and need to go on a run if they want to make the playoffs. However, they are going to potentially have one of their top playmakers back for this week’s game. It all begins with Sunday’s game at home against the Indianapolis Colts, so it will be intriguing to see how they look going forward and where they will be in the power rankings this time next week.
