Ruben Amorim might have to wait another two months to unleash strongest Manchester United line…

There is some mixed injury news as Man Utd prepare to return to action against Everton.

United will welcome the majority of their international players back to Carrington on Friday morning, ahead of their match on Monday night. Lisandro Martinez could be back in a matchday for the first time in almost ten months, though Benjamin Sesko will miss the match due to the knee injury he suffered against Tottenham Hotspur.

Amorim will provide his latest team news update when he speaks to the press on Friday afternoon, but the early suggestions are positive, with Sesko potentially the only absentee for the coming matches. It means United are agonisingly close to unleashing their new strongest line up, but the unfortunate timing could mean it is another two months before we see it in action.

United will have to wait to unleash strongest line up

Manchester United are close to a clean bill of health as they prepare to face Everton in the Premier League on Monday night. Benjamin Sesko is the only current injury concern after he picked up a knee injury in the recent draw with Tottenham Hotspur and was forced to withdraw from international duty.

Sesko is expected to miss a month of action 'at most', which means he could miss as many as the next five matches, and perhaps as few as only two. His return will dictate whether Ruben Amorim can unleash his strongest line next month, or whether he will have to wait until January to do it at the earliest.

Lisandro Martinez is also close to a return to action after he suffered a serious knee injury back in February. After nearly 10 months on the sidelines, he is back in full training and could be named in the match-day squad to face Everton early next week. It will take a few cameo appearances from the bench before Martinez is deemed ready to start a game again, and he will have to perform at a high level if he is to oust Luke Shaw from the starting lineup anyway.

By that logic, the home match against West Ham on 4 December might be the earliest possible opportunity for Amorim to have Martinez and Sesko both available, while they also face Wolves on 8 December and Bournemouth on 15 December. If there are no fresh injury concerns, those matches could represent the first opportunity to unleash United's strongest line up.

It might be a push for the pair to both be considered fully match fit, which could significantly delay their plans. Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui will all be unavailable from the Aston Villa match on 21 December due to the Africa Cup of Nations, and could miss seven club matches if they progress to the final four of the tournament.

In that case, it might not be until the trip to face Arsenal in late January that Amorim has the luxury of his strongest starting line up available when those who have participated in AFCON will be back with their respective clubs again.

United strongest line up: Lammens; Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes (c), Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha, Sesko.
