Liverpool will be hoping to welcome back some key players from injury when they return to Premier League action this weekend. The Reds will host Forest at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the top flight.
Before the international break, Arne Slot's side were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. That defeat sees Liverpool lie in eighth place in the Premier League table, but they will have a chance to climb the standings when they take on Forest this weekend.
For much of the campaign, Liverpool have been forced to deal with several injury concerns and that will remain the case for the visit of Forest on Saturday. Alexander Isak has not played in any of the Reds' last five matches but was in the matchday squad for the defeat to Man City and could be in line to return to the starting line-up over the weekend.
Jeremie Frimpong has spent the last few weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, but is expected to return in the near future. Slot recently admitted that the Netherlands international may still be a doubt to face Forest, though.
Alisson Becker has also spent time on the sidelines for Liverpool with a muscle injury. The Reds will hope to have the Brazilian back in the squad for the clash against Forest, but until Slot gives an update, it remains to be seen if Alisson will start between the posts at Anfield on Saturday.
"Alisson for sure. And I expect Jeremie back after the international break as well because we play from November until March," Slot told reporters earlier this month.
"But I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest. But with Alisson, we expect this, yes."
Giovanni Leoni remains a long-term absentee for Liverpool with a knee injury he suffered back in September.
For Forest, they too have been dealing with a lengthy injury list for much of the campaign. Chris Wood has been dealing with a knee injury but could recover in time to feature against Liverpool.
Callum Hudson-Odoi missed the win over Leeds with a leg injury and could return to the squad to face Liverpool.
Douglas Luiz and Ola Aina have been dealing with hamstring injuries in recent weeks and it remains to be seen if they will recover in time to make the trip to Merseyside.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has been recovering from a groin injury, while a knee injury has kept Angus Gunn on the sidelines. Dilane Bakwa has also been unavailable with an unspecified injury.
