11 players who could miss Liverpool's clash against Nottingham Forest as key stars doubtful

Man City 3-0 Liverpool: Match Review

Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest injury news ahead of the Premier League fixture at Anfield.

Liverpool return to action after the international break when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Anfield on Saturday (3pm GMT).

Both outfits have fallen below expectations so far this season - especially Arne Slot’s side. After winning the Premier League title last campaign, Liverpool were the favourites to defend their crown. But after 11 games, they are already eight points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

A 3-0 defeat by Manchester City last time out condemned the Reds to a fifth loss in six league matches. It’s fair to say that Slot had work to do during the hiatus. But Liverpool now have, on paper, a favourable run of games starting against Forest.

The City Ground side finished seventh last term but now languish in 19th. Sean Dyche is the club’s third head coach of the season after Nuno Espirito Santo was axed and Ange Postecoglou lasted just 38 days in the role.

Ahead of the game, here’s the latest team news for both sides.

Liverpool team news

Jeremie Frimpong - out

The versatile Holland international has missed Liverpool’s past five matches because of a hamstring issue. Slot already admitted it is highly unlikely that Forest will be available to face Forest.

Giovanni Leoni - out

The 18-year-old centre-back is on the recovery trail after rupturing his ACL against Southampton two months ago. Leoni is not expected to play for Liverpool until next season.

Alisson Becker - minor doubt

The No.1 goalkeeper has been unavailble for the previous eight games because of a hamstring issue. Before the City loss, Slot revealed that he expected Alisson back to face Forest. However, it is still not guaranteed that the Brazilian will indeed have made a full recovery.

Stefan Bajcetic - out

The midfielder is still to make an appearance this season having had hamstring surgery in the summer following a loan at Las Palmas.

Jayden Danns - out

The well-regarded teenage striker has not been able to supplement Liverpool’s bench in recent weeks because of a hamstring problem.

Nottingham Forest team news

Douglas Luiz - out

The midfielder, on loan from Juventus, has been struggling with a thigh injury and is not expected to be involved.

Chris Wood - doubt

Forest will hope to get the centre-forward back to face Liverpool, although Wood has missed the previous five matches.

Ola Aina - out

The key full-back had hamstring surgery earlier this year and is not expected to feature for Forest until 2026.

Callum Hudson-Odoi - doubt

The winger has been unavailable for the past two games because of a thigh injury. However, Dyche was previously not overly concerned by Hudson-Odoi’s issue and he could be back in the squad.

Dilane Bakwa - doubt

The winger has been on the sidelines for around a month. In his last update, Dyche said that Bakwa was making ‘good progress’ it could be enough to see the Frenchman back involved.

Oleksandr Zinchenko - doubt

The Arsenal loanee was visibly upset when he was forced off in a 2-0 Europa League victory over Porto with a suspected groin problem. Zinchenko did not represent Ukraine during the international break.

Angus Gunn - doubt

The back-up goalkeeper has had knee ligament damage and meant he was not involved in Scotland’s set-up as they ended a 28-year wait to qualify for the World Cup.
