Chelsea have had scouts at the under-17 World Cup which is currently in progress.
And one player who seems to have caught their eye is the young Nigerian Abduljelil Kamaldeen, who has made two appearances off the bench for his country. That is despite the fact that the midfielder has just turned 16, and is one of the youngest players in the tournament this time. He is also diminutive, at a little over 5 feet 2 inches tall, although it is hoped that he will develop a little more physically.
Kamaldeen currently plays for Kwara FA, and one of their directors, Ibrahim Bako has claimed that Chelsea have moved ahead in the race to sign him, although West Ham are also reported to be monitoring his situation.
Of course, due to his age, even if Chelsea agree a deal for him now, it will still be some time until he pulls on a blue shirt, with FIFA regulations stipulating any switch to London can only happen after his 18th birthday.
