Birmingham City 4 Portsmouth 0: Neil Allen's full-time video verdict

It’s been nearly 120 years since Birmingham City first played football at St. Andrew’s – but before long, they will move out of their famous old ground and into a new stadium.

The new stadium is reportedly set to hold around 62,000 baying spectators and will be fit to host a variety of sports, with NFL matches on the wishlist. Birmingham’s American owners have brought Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight in to collaborate with the architects and the final design is expected to pay tributes to the city’s industrial heritage which some form of ‘chimney’ design.

People will either love it or hate it when we finally find out what kind of form this new stadium will take. The new stadium reveal is expected to be announced at 3pm today.

Chairman Tom Wagner has teased it as a highly visible landmark saying it will be "a stadium you can see from every place in the city" and even up to 35 miles away. This suggests a bold and towering stadium.

When the plans for Birmingham City's brand-new stadium were announced, the club were very public in their ambition to have the venue completely finished by the end of 2029. Wagner has admitted that the planned completion date is also very ambitious.
