Arsenal have Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jean-Mattéo Bahoya on their transfer radar.
That’s according to Sport1, and they cover Arsenal’s interest and the forward’s situation with the German club.
Eintracht Frankfurt signed the 20-year-old from Angers SCO in January 2024. He hasn’t been given regular minutes but that hasn’t stopped him from receiving offers.
It’s claimed there was a €70m bid last summer, without specifying who tabled the offer.
The youngster scored a brace in the first match of the season against Werder Bremen and followed that with an assist against Hoffenheim. Bahoya also scored against FV Engers 07 in the DFB-Pokal in August.
The attacker hasn’t scored or registered an assist since August and is yet to play the full 90 minutes this season. He’s unhappy with his role under Dino Toppmöller.
Bahoya’s ‘dissatisfaction is gradually growing’ with his role in the team. His situation with the Bundesliga side hasn’t stopped him from attracting Arsenal interest.
Sport1 claim the Gunners are keen on the attacking talent and they would have to spend big to sign him.
Arsenal would surely get a discount
Jean-Matteo Bahoya
Rome, Italy 30.01.2025: Jean-Matteo Bahoya of Eintracht Frankfurt during the Uefa Europa League 2024-2025, football match between AS Roma vs Eintracht Frankfurt at Olympic Stadium in Rome.
The France U21 international has a contract until 2029. It’s claimed Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche has set a price of at least €80m. They have no pressure to sell, and his contract puts them in a strong position for a potential negotiation.
Bahoya has 19 goals and 10 assists from 103 matches in his entire career so far. Taking this and his current role into account, it would be wishful thinking to demand €80m. Arsenal are unlikely to even come close to Eintracht Frankfurt’s price tag, and a discount is certain.
Sport1 state: ‘The fact is that Bahoya still feels very comfortable in Frankfurt, but a departure in the near future no longer seems 100% out of the question.’
This could favour Arsenal to bring the price down if they decide to push for his signing.
