Up against a New York Giants team that is missing a lot of key players, including quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo, the Green Bay Packers were expected to dominate the Week 12 game at MetLife Stadium. It turned out to be a harder task to accomplish, but Green Bay ultimately emerged witha 27-20 victoryto notch its sixth win in the 2025 NFL season.
Green Bay’s stepped up late in the contest with safety Evan Williams picking off Giants quarterback Jameis Winston for one of the two New York turnovers in the game.
It could have been a three-turnover day for the Giants, but Green Bay safety Xavier McKinney missed out on a chance for an interception, which he blamed on the officiating.
“First of all, it was offensive pass interference,” McKinney told reporters on Wednesday (h/tRyan Wood of USA TODAY). “They don’t call this [expletive] for some reason,” added the former Alabama Crimson Tide star defensive back.
McKinney, Williams lead Packers in interceptions heading into Week 12 against Vikings
Green Bay Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon (25) and Green Bay Packers safety Evan Williams (33) celebrate during a game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, Nov 16, 2025, East Rutherford, NJ, USA.
Nevertheless, there is no denying that McKinney is among the chief defensive weapons downfield of Green Bay, which only has four interceptions on defense, so far this year. McKinney has two of them, and Williams has the other two.
Another opportunity to make loud noises for Green Bay’s secondary comes this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field. The Vikings are expected to start JJ McCarthy under center, and while the former Michigan Wolverines star quarterback has shown flashes of brilliance this season, he’s already thrown eight interceptions with only six touchdowns on the season.
