Kevin Kilbane shares Troy Parrott transfer likelihood amid Everton's interest

Former Everton midfielder Kevin Kilbane has now opened up on whether he thinks Troy Parrott will return to the Premier League, with the Toffees keen on the striker.

Heading into the January window, the young Ireland international is going to have a lot of suitors eyeing his talent.

David Moyes will be going into the winter market with a clear target set on adding goals to his side for the second half of the campaign.

Everton News reported last week that Everton scouts watched Parrott score twice against Portugal during the international break.

The Toffees have had an eye on the 23-year-old all season-long as he has excelled in the Eredivisie with AZ Alkmaar.

Everton desperately want to sign a quality striker, amid their own struggles with Beto and Thierno Barry.

Having netted a heroic hat-trick for Ireland at the weekend, Kilbane has now evaluated Parrott’s likelihood of returning to the Premier League.

Troy Parrott could make Premier League return with Everton keen

Parrott has admitted he is happy at AZ Alkmaar, but the prospect of returning to the Premier League and proving his doubters wrong could be very tempting.

The 23-year-old departed Tottenham Hotspur back in 2024 to permanently make the move to the Netherlands.

Is Troy Parrott the perfect January signing for Everton?

Speaking to the Irish Times, former Everton midfielder Kilbane has now shared his thoughts on what could lie ahead for Parrott.

“Troy deserves all the plaudits that come his way. The hat-trick will probably accelerate a move away from the Dutch league and AZ Alkmaar,” said the 48-year-old.

“He will have plenty of options to play Champions League or return to England, where he scored goals in the Tottenham youth sides before the pro game threatened to do what it has done to plenty of players with his talent.

“Making it in the Premier League, as we are constantly reminded by Evan Ferguson and Parrott, Ireland’s two generational strikers, is unbelievably difficult.”

Seamus Coleman has already praised Parrott, who has become the national hero after scoring all of Ireland’s goals in the recent international break.

Parrott’s international break will not have gone unnoticed across Europe, which will likely see the likes of Everton face some fierce competition if they are to make a move for him.

Parrott would still pose January risk for Everton

There can be no denying what Parrott has returned during the international break after single-handedly dragging Ireland into the World Cup play-offs.

Former Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen has hailed Parrott’s ability and that can be seen in what he has done with AZ.

Where will Everton finish this season?

Returning to the Premier League and replicating his current form would be a huge ask for the 23-year-old.

Everton News columnistAlan Myers wants Everton to sign a striker with Premier League experience.

Parrott may well be the flavour of the week following his Ireland heroics, but this is a player who Everton have scouted all season-long and will need to consider very carefully ahead of January.

Having seen Barry and Beto struggle following their respective moves from abroad, Everton fans will not want to see a third striker suffer the same issues.
