Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois talked to Cadena COPE and discussed the reports suggesting that coach Xabi Alonso has lost the dressing room.
“We are training well and have a good relationship with the coach. In the locker room, there will always be people who are a bit unhappy about not playing as much, but in our team, everything is discussed openly in meetings and there is no problem. I read some information and say to myself, “This is not true, it’s not like that,” but in the end, it creates noise,” he said.
He also shared his thoughts about the altercation during El Clásico and Lamine Yamal’s quotes ahead of that match.
“When we are calm, in a trusted environment, I can tell you things that I might not have wanted to say. Lamine is a great player, but in the end he spoke while heating up the match and the press jumped on it. We needed that atmosphere, we needed that fire. He is an enemy and we have to go after them because when they have won, they haven’t respected us either. A Clásico motivates one way or another, but hearing those things motivates you even more. About the altercation, that stays on the field. If tomorrow Carvajal or Dean (Huijsen) are in the squad, there will be zero problems with Lamine. If I see him in a restaurant, I would say hi to him. There is no problem between Lamine and me,” he explained.
Courtois concluded his interview by revealing that he will be ready to face Elche.
“I will be ready by the weekend. It was a small injury, but I had to rest, recover, and get some treatment. I was a bit surprised by the fuss that was made in Belgium, as if I was being removed from the National Team, when that is not the case. If I had a match with Real Madrid, I wouldn’t have played either, because I couldn’t play,” he said.
