It wouldn't be a typical week in Philadelphia without head coach Nick Sirianni answering a question about the latest controversy surrounding the Eagles.
This time, sources tell Eagles reporter Derrick Gunn that there are frustrations in the locker room regarding quarterback Jalen Hurts. There have been some complaints about how Hurts has played this season.
While Sirianni had already answered the Hurts story on the radio this week, he was asked again about his thoughts on it in his press conference. This time, Sirianni is not even going to give it any merit whatsoever.
"When there's not a name on it, I don't put a lot of credence into that. Obviously, it's not good for me to read anything. I...I don't necessarily believe everything that's being written. I just don't. I've been around long enough to know that, so I don't give it a lot of credence when there's not a name. Again, just don't fall into the trap of believing everything you see or read."
Sirianni and the Eagles are focused on the right things
Similar to A.J. Brown's comments about being frustrated, this feels like an almost obvious observation that is blown up into something bigger than it needs to be. Yes, a lot of people would like Hurts to play better as he has completed under 60% of his passes over the last two games, including a season-low 50% in the 16-9 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 11.
The difference here is that Hurts' overall performance for the year is not playing badly. He's scored 22 touchdowns and only has one interception on the season. If people are comparing 2025 to 2023, at least Hurts is not putting the ball in harm's way like he did then when the offense was looking sluggish.
Not everything has to be put on Hurts' shoulders for what's going on with the offense.
What about offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's play-calling, running a million hitch routes with his receivers? How about the receivers struggling to get separation from defenders on passing routes? Or maybe the offensive line's inconsistency in opening holes up for Saquon Barkley in the running game?

The quarterback will always get the first blame on everything, as Hurts told the media that it comes with the territory, but there are plenty of reasons this is one of the worst offenses in the NFL right now.
