Chelsea have no plans to send goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen out on loan in the January transfer window, football.london understands.

The Danish shot-stopper is open to exploring his options in the mid-season window in a bid to get more first-team minutes before next summer's World Cup, with Denmark having to qualify for the competition via the play-offs. Jorgensen has played just shy of 360 minutes in four appearances across all competitions this season with Robert Sanchez still Enzo Maresca's No.1 goalkeeper.

Jorgensen might have played even less if it wasn't for Sanchez's red card in the Premier League defeat to Manchester United on September 20. The Blues brought Jorgensen to the club in July 2024, paying Villarreal around £20million for the goalkeeper's services, and since then the 23-year-old has made a total of 28 appearances - with 50% of them coming in last season's Conference League run.

While Jorgensen has made it clear he wants to consider his options in January, football.london understands Chelsea are currently not planning to let him leave the club on a loan deal. Maresca has made it clear on several occasions that he is more than happy with the club's current goalkeeping options of Sanchez and Jorgensen.

Speaking back in March, when there was plenty of criticism around Sanchez in particular, Maresca explained: "I've said many times we are happy with both goalkeepers. But sometimes, you have to be flexible.

"Since we started, the idea wasn't to change the goalkeeper but you have to be flexible; we do this with the game plan, the way we want to attack and defend, but we also have to be flexible with players."

Chelsea currently have young goalkeeper Mike Penders out on loan at sister side Strasbourg. The 20-year-old Belgian has impressed during his short time in France, with the Blues set to review his situation when he arrives back in Cobham next summer.
