NFL Films spent a few days with the Admirals
Cork has always been a sporting county with a unique heritage, from drag hunting, horse racing and road bowling to our famous hurlers, footballers and Olympic rowers.
But there's one sport, reckoned to be the fastest growing in the world (in terms of fans at least) that has been quietly making inroads in the Rebel County and where we can claim to have the Irish Champions - American Football. Or as the Yanks call it, just football.
CorkBeo has regular featured our championship winning Cork Admirals. The Admirals are the only full contact, fully kitted American Football team in Cork and since their founding in 2002, they has risen through the ranks as one of Ireland's top teams. The Cork squad have been competing in American Football Ireland leagues for over two decades, with Cork players and coaches representing the Irish National team at both the U19 and senior levels in recent seasons.

The Cork Admirals are one of Ireland's leading American Football teams
The Cork Admirals play in the top tier AFI Premier Division. The senior team were national champions in 2018 and has competed in the post-season playoffs every year since 2017.
So it's no surprise that the Rebels of the American Football scene in Ireland have featured in a glossy, exciting 20-minute video feature by NFL films, the official media wing of the game since 1962, with tens of millions of fans and followers all over the world.
A team from NFL films travelled to Cork earlier this year to do an in-depth look at the game in Ireland, focusing in on the Cork Admirals as an prime example of how the game is making inroads and winning players and fans in Ireland, through dedicated players and coaches and skill levels that are taking a step up every season.
It's only been on YouTube for less than a day, but this feature already has many thousands of views from the 1.34m football fans who follow NFL FIlms on YouTube alone - add in all of the social media platforms and that's tens of millions around the world.
