The Dallas Cowboys made roster moves while preparing on a condensed schedule ahead of their matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Following their victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, the team released linebacker Damone Clark, who quickly found a new home.
The Houston Texans claimed Clark off waivers, adding him to their 53-man roster. In the corresponding transaction, Houston waived kicker Matthew Wright.
“Former Cowboys LB Damone Clark has been claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. He will move onto their 53-man roster,” Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Nick Harris wrote on X.

Clark, a product of LSU from New Orleans, was drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. During his college career, he earned second-team All-American honors and first-team All-Southeastern Conference recognition.
He has compiled 198 total tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, a half-sack, and four passes defensed across his professional tenure. A spinal fusion surgery in 2022 affected his rookie season availability, but Clark has remained active throughout his career.
This season, he appeared in eight games with two starts while recording 14 tackles. His 2023 campaign proved more substantial, as he started all 17 games and posted a career-high 109 tackles alongside four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and one fumble recovery.
Clark is in the final year of his four-year rookie contract signed in 2022, which included a $242,556 signing bonus and carries a $3.4 million base salary after qualifying for the Proven Performance Escalator. The move provides the Texans with depth at linebacker while allowing Dallas to adjust its roster during their short week of preparation.
