Nick Sirianni said what no Eagles fan would remotely agree with on Kevin Patullo

Each week, the Philadelphia sports media and national sports media continues to criticize Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, but that doesn't stop head coach Nick Sirianni from defending his coach.

It was more of the same when Sirianni spoke with the media in his press conference where he was asked about his evaluation of the job Patullo has done. While Sirianni admitted that Patullo needs to improve, he still complimented him on doing a "good job."

"I go through everything. One way I look at it is situationally. I'm going to look at how we handled things situationally, how did we play two-minute, how do we play four-minute, how do we play backed up, third down, red zone, all those different things because there's got to be alignment with the vision of how we manage the game as well. Then I'll look [at] the design or anything like that. ‘Was this issue an issue that we lost because of play design or was this an issue that we lost because we didn't execute?’ Always going to look at that and then just look at the flow of game. ‘Why are we doing things this and that [way]?’ Maybe it's questions here and there. ‘Hey, why did you do this here? Why'd you do that there?’

"So, it's just the interactive part of it that, I wouldn't say it's anything real unique besides the things I just talked about, but more so the flow of how you watch every game together and every practice together. ‘What'd you think here? What if we'd have done this instead of that?’ Again, I think he's done a good job. We’ve found ways to win. We have a lot to improve on, and he'll tell you he needs to continue to improve. We all need to continue to improve, but I think he's done a lot of good things, and he's got to continue getting better."

Nobody is seeing the "good job" Patullo is doing

Look, fans can't be naive about it as Sirianni has to back his guy. Sirianni has never been the type of coach to throw his players and coaching staff under the bus. At least he said that he has to improve.

The part that is going to annoy the fan base is once again throwing in that Patullo is doing a good job. No, he's not. "We've found ways to win" is more about the defense than the offense. Let's be honest about that.

Philadelphia's offense ranks 25th in the NFL in total offense (300.1 yards per game) and 28th in passing (184.9 yards per game). Over the last two games, the offense has scored 26 points, and quarterback Jalen Hurts has completed fewer than 60% of his passes. Patullo is being called out by people like Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, who says the play calls are too predictable and that he's just running hitch and slant routes with A.J. Brown.

Which part of those stats and analyses are "good" or "finding ways to win games?' Eagles fans will wait.

Soon enough, the season will end, and if this doesn't improve, Sirianni's back will be up against the wall with something that will have to change on offense. There are way too many good weapons on that side of the ball to be one of the worst in the NFL.
